Hello BistoConnors! And Others Who Might be Interested! They have asked me to make posts to DW/LJ/Facebook regarding BistoCon 2018! They have also given me carte blanche. *g* There will be updates! There will be reminders! There will be conversation about BistoCons past and present! Let's get the ball rolling, because August is a loooong way away! (And yet not so long that you shouldn't register now!)

Let's get the word out, too. Do you know someone who should be coming to BistoCon? Share with them all the details! Harass Cajole them! Tell them what a fabulous time they will have. Perhaps this is your first time? Welcome! BistoCon is fabulous! Really, what better way to spend 3 days in August than chatting with fellow fans, watching songvids, watching episodes, playing games--Pros Pictionary!!--eating lots of food, and much more? We also do serious research into the relationship between Bodie and Doyle. *g* Send anyone interested the details at the BistoCon web site, and have them sign up with DW/LJ/Facebook.

Now, I'm curious: What was the first fannish con you attended?

For me, it was MountainMedia Con in Denver, Colorado, in I think the summer of 1995. I had only recently discovered an "in" to fandom (through the old Usenet news sites--this was pre-web!), and had struck of a friendship with a woman who wrote Starsky & Hutch. She invited me to stay with her and attend the con. My mother was worried about this whole business of going off to meet a "stranger"; I was worried about going to a con with lots of other people I didn't know. I'm shy!

Well. It was wonderful. Oh, my goodness. Panels! Discussions! Art! Slashy art(!) Songvids! (brand new to me!) And, of course, the Dealers' Room. So many zines. So many fandoms. So little S&H, alas. I had such great conversations, though. And I was shown two fuzzy episodes of this weird British TV show that was "the British version of Starsky & Hutch". Huh. I ended up going home with new friendships, inspiration, and all the S&H zines I could find, plus a couple of multimedia zines and two Pros zines that I thought I'd try. I'm all about the stories, you know.

Once home, I read all the S&H, and then dabbled in Pros...and then a new friend from the con sent me some fourth-generation episodes on tape, and connected me with the then-email version of Proslib. I fell. Hard. And it has been, gosh, twenty-three years!

Do you see what cons can do? Aren't they fabulous? Tell us your first con story. And spread the word about BistoCon.
